Apr 5th 2008 - Leonardo DiCaprio is green and lives that way. Leo just bought an eco-friendly condo in New York City, according to New York magazine.
Building materials are all sustainable and were acquired locally.
Paints, sealants and adhesives are non-pollutant emitting. Air to each
residence is filtered twice for cleanest possible breathing. The water
to all units is equipped with filters to remove sediment and
impurities. The building is crowned with a photovoltaic grid for
maximum exposure to the sun to create clean solar energy. 75% of all open roof space will be planted with
trees and shrubbery.
The high-rise condo comes with programmable thermostats,
rooftop green and free bike storage. The building also offers a children's playroom,
indoor 50' lap pool, media café, fitness center (with yoga studio),
indoor children’s Light House, landscaped Riverhouse terrace and a dog
spa.
Leo is putting his money where his mouth is.
