PART TIME GREEN - Fuel efficient, eco-friendly car
Fuel efficient, eco-friendly car
Toyota Yaris 2006-2009. So far so good.

yarisThe Toyota Yaris has been named Green Car of the Year 2008 by the Environmental Transport Association (ETA), with the Honda Civic Hybrid as runner-up, and the Dodge SRT-10 sports car criticised as the least green car.

The ETA looked at more than 1,300 models on sale in Britain and examined their power, emissions, fuel efficiency and even the amount of noise they produced to create the definitive guide to buying the greenest vehicle. ETA director Andrew Davis said with the increasing costs of motoring and the threat to the environment, there had never been a more important time to choose greener cars.

The American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy ranked the Yaris fourth in a list of green-friendly cars.
Three hybrid cars, including the Toyota Prius, Honda Civic Hybrid and the Nissan Altima Hybrid, ranked higher.

There’s something endearingly European about the way the car looks. Consumers seem to like the rounded contours and compact yet practical size.

If Chrysler and GM had something as good as the Yaris, they wouldn't be begging today. Wake up was yesterday, actually 10 to 20 years ago. Brain dead, anyone?

I'm a car mechanic, soon to be obsolete. And I don't mind at all. I look forward to the day when the electric car with its simplicity etc, becomes the norm. No more dirty, smelly gas stations. Hybrids? another matter. KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID.

The Zenn is electric. Pity we didn't stick with the electric car in the first place. Just think how different our world would have been.

My neighbour swears by her Yaris, which she babies like a mother hen. I'd like to counter with information about the Zenn car. I understand that stands for Zero Emission No Noise, and it's made somewhere in Canada. Can anyone tell me more? Why is it not available in the states?
