Here are a number of foods known to be associated with high pesticide use during commerical farming practices. The best option is to eat organically grown versions of these foods, or at the very least, to eat the lower-pesticide alternatives provided.
High-pesticide food: Strawberries
Main nutrient: Vitamin C
Healthy alternatives: Blueberries, raspberries, oranges, grapefruit, kiwifruit, watermelon
High-pesticide food: Bell peppers
Main nutrient: Vitamin C
Healthy alternatives: Green peas, broccoli, romaine, lettuce
High-pesticide food: Spinach
Main nutrient: Vitamins A and C
Healthy alternatives: Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, asparagus
High-pesticide food: Cherries
Main nutrient: Vitamin C
Healthy alternatives: Oranges, blueberries, raspberries, kiwifruit, blackberries, grapefruit

gosh, there's so much to avoid. It's a marvel we're not all dead already. Just thinking of the amount of strawberries I've consumed makes me twitch. I'll try to do better.

I'm surprised about green beans. Guess I'll be choosing green peas more often.
Also, I'll be avoiding raspberries and strawberries unless they are organic. Better to buy a small amount that's safe to eat than a large amount that could be building up toxins.
