There are several tried-and-true techniques that can help you cool down your
house to eliminate the need for A/C or reduce the strain on your air
conditioning system and furnace. Some of these are immediate and inexpensive,
while others require a bit of time and investment.

Insulation: Insulating, caulking and weather-stripping are essential
to keeping your home warm in cold climates, but they also help keep your home
cool in hot weather.
Shading: Shading is the simplest, most effective way to cool your home
and reduce energy consumption.
Ceiling Fans: Ceiling fans are efficient and use little electricity.
