Cut your bills, spare the environment

  1. Set your thermostat a few degrees lower in the winter and a few degrees higher in the summer to save on heating and cooling costs.
  2. Install  (CFLs) when your older incandescent bulbs burn out.
  3. Unplug electrical dervices when you're not using them, cuts down "phantom" energy use.
  4. Wash clothes in cold water whenever possible. Many detergent are now designed for cold water washing
  5. Use a drying rack or clothesline.

Save water to save money.

  1. Take shorter showers to reduce water use. This will lower your water and heating bills too.
  2. Install a low-flow showerhead.
  3. Plant drought-tolerant native plants in your garden. Many plants need minimal watering. Find out which occur naturally in your area.

I put one or two clean towels in the dryer alongside with the clothing and such. I am sure that it takes less time for them to be dry.
